Zodiac signs dates: find your sign by date of birth
Your zodiac sign is the constellation the Sun occupied on the day you were born — the date alone is enough to find it. Enter yours in the calculator and get your sign instantly, with links to its personality, compatibility and today's horoscope. Below, the full chart of all twelve signs' dates.
Born on the first or last day of a range? The Sun doesn't change signs exactly at midnight, so the precise sign depends on your year and time of birth — a birth chart settles it.

Which zodiac sign is each month?
Every calendar month is split between two signs — the one ending and the one beginning. If all you remember is someone's birth month, this list tells you which two signs they could be, and the exact day the switch happens.
- January — Capricorn (through the 19th) or Aquarius (from the 20th)
- February — Aquarius (through the 18th) or Pisces (from the 19th)
- March — Pisces (through the 20th) or Aries (from the 21st)
- April — Aries (through the 19th) or Taurus (from the 20th)
- May — Taurus (through the 20th) or Gemini (from the 21st)
- June — Gemini (through the 20th) or Cancer (from the 21st)
- July — Cancer (through the 22nd) or Leo (from the 23rd)
- August — Leo (through the 22nd) or Virgo (from the 23rd)
- September — Virgo (through the 22nd) or Libra (from the 23rd)
- October — Libra (through the 22nd) or Scorpio (from the 23rd)
- November — Scorpio (through the 21st) or Sagittarius (from the 22nd)
- December — Sagittarius (through the 21st) or Capricorn (from the 22nd)
The 12 signs, one by one: dates and character in two lines
A two-line portrait doesn't replace the full sign page, but it gives you the essence: what drives each sign, and where it shows. Each sign's name links to its full profile.
♈AriesMarch 21 – April 19 · Fire
Ruled by Mars, Aries is the zodiac's ignition: quick to decide, direct, and happier making a mistake in motion than being right on the sidelines. Its real challenge is follow-through — the fire that starts everything doesn't always stay to see the result.
♉TaurusApril 20 – May 20 · Earth
Taurus, ruled by Venus, builds slowly and builds to last: stability, comfort, and a rhythm of its own. What looks like stubbornness is a refusal to drop what has already proven itself before seeing something better.
♊GeminiMay 21 – June 20 · Air
Ruled by Mercury, Gemini runs on information: asking, connecting, switching topics without losing the thread. Versatility is the gift; scattering across ten interests at once is the trap.
♋CancerJune 21 – July 22 · Water
Cancer, ruled by the Moon, reads the room before anyone says a word. Memory, home, and their own people are its territory. It protects fiercely — and needs to feel safe before showing everything it carries.
♌LeoJuly 23 – August 22 · Fire
Ruled by the Sun, Leo needs to create and to be seen — not out of vanity, but because shining is its natural mode. Generous and loyal, it fades in rooms where nobody notices what it does.
♍VirgoAugust 23 – September 22 · Earth
Virgo, ruled by Mercury, sees the detail everyone else misses. Its way of caring is being useful: improving, organizing, fixing. Excessive self-criticism is the price of a standard that rarely drops.
♎LibraSeptember 23 – October 22 · Air
Ruled by Venus, Libra thinks in “we” before “me”: balance, aesthetics, and a fair deal. It decides slowly not out of weakness, but because it genuinely sees both sides of every option.
♏ScorpioOctober 23 – November 21 · Water
Scorpio goes all the way in or doesn't go at all — half-measures hold no interest. Ruled by Pluto and Mars, it combines willpower, intuition, and a loyalty that has to be earned. What reads as secrecy is usually selectiveness.
♐SagittariusNovember 22 – December 21 · Fire
Ruled by Jupiter, Sagittarius needs a horizon: travel, ideas, meaning. It's the zodiac's honest optimist — saying what it thinks and betting on the future, even when it promises more than the calendar can hold.
♑CapricornDecember 22 – January 19 · Earth
Capricorn, ruled by Saturn, plays the long game: clear goals, sustained effort, results that show years later. Behind the seriousness hides an excellent dry wit — and more sensitivity than it lets on.
♒AquariusJanuary 20 – February 18 · Air
Ruled by Uranus and Saturn, Aquarius thinks for itself: ideas, the future, and the freedom not to fit in. Close to humanity as a whole, it keeps its distance one-on-one until trust is earned.
♓PiscesFebruary 19 – March 20 · Water
Pisces, ruled by Neptune and Jupiter, picks up what goes unsaid: emotions, atmospheres, nuances. Imagination and empathy are the gifts; learning to set boundaries is the life lesson.
Decans: shades within each sign
Each sign covers 30 degrees of the zodiac, and those 30 degrees split into three decans of 10. The first shows the sign in its purest form; the second and third add a shade of the other two signs of the same element. That's why two people of the same sign, born at the start and at the end of its range, can feel so different: a first-decan Aries is pure ignition, a third-decan one — more of a strategist, with Sagittarius undertones. If your sign only half fits you, check which decan you fall into — sometimes that's where the difference lives.
What about the 13th sign, Ophiuchus?
Every few years the story goes around that "a new sign has appeared" and all the dates have shifted. The constellation Ophiuchus does exist, and the Sun passes in front of it in December. But Western astrology isn't based on constellations — it uses the tropical zodiac: twelve equal 30-degree sectors counted from the spring equinox. That system has twelve signs by definition; constellations can be wide or narrow, bright or faint, and the chart doesn't change.
So no: your sign hasn't changed, the dates on this page still hold, and no space agency has "added" a sign — NASA itself has debunked that story more than once.
Your Sun sign is not your whole chart
The sign you just found is your Sun sign. It sets a recognizable pattern of character — and it's worth knowing. But it's one layer of the picture: at the moment you were born, the Moon, Venus, Mars and the other planets each occupied their own positions. Their combination is what makes you you, rather than a "typical Leo" or a "textbook Virgo."
So if the general portrait of your sign only half-resonates, that's normal — the other parts of your chart are speaking louder. A full birth chart, calculated from your date, time and place of birth, shows the whole picture.

Frequently asked questions
How do I find my zodiac sign by date of birth?
Your zodiac sign is determined by where the Sun was on the day you were born — the date alone is enough. Enter it in the calculator above or find your range in the chart. Time and place only matter if you were born on the boundary between two signs.
What if I was born on a cusp?
If your date falls on the first or last day of a sign's range, you were born "on the cusp." The Sun doesn't change signs exactly at midnight, so your precise sign depends on the year and time of birth. A birth chart calculated from date, time and city settles it definitively.
What are the 12 zodiac signs in order?
Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces. The zodiac year starts with Aries at the spring equinox (around March 21).
Are zodiac sign dates the same every year?
Almost — they shift by a day or so from year to year because the Sun's ingress into each sign doesn't happen at the same moment annually. That's why people born on boundary dates should verify with a birth chart rather than a table.
Is my zodiac sign the same as my Chinese zodiac animal?
No. Western zodiac signs (Aries, Taurus…) are determined by your date within the year and follow the Sun's position. The Chinese zodiac (Rat, Ox, Tiger…) is determined by your birth year and is a separate, unrelated system.
Which zodiac signs get along best in love?
As a rule of thumb, signs of the same element understand each other naturally (fire with fire, water with water), and fire–air and earth–water pairs complement each other well. But real compatibility shows in both charts, not just the Sun signs — our compatibility section breaks down all 78 combinations.
I don't relate to my sign. Is the chart wrong?
The chart is right — but the Sun sign is only one layer. If your Moon, your rising sign, or several planets sit in a different sign, that energy can speak louder than the Sun's. A full birth chart, built from your date, time, and city of birth, shows why the standard portrait doesn't quite fit.
