Venus sign calculator: find yours in 30 seconds

Your Venus sign runs the love department: how you attract and are attracted, your taste, your gift language, your idea of pleasure. It's often a different sign from your Sun — which explains why your love style may not match your horoscope's reputation.

Venus stays within two signs of the Sun and changes signs every 3-4 weeks — the exact date decides.

What your Venus sign actually runs

Venus answers the questions the Sun sign never quite does: what draws you in, how you show affection, what makes you feel loved — and what you find beautiful, from people to playlists to the way a room is lit. It also runs your relationship with pleasure and money's softer side: what you buy when nobody's judging.

This is why couples' astrology leans so hard on Venus. Two people's Sun signs may clash while their Venus signs speak the same love language — or the reverse, which explains the couple that looks perfect on paper and still can't feel each other. When someone loves "out of character", Venus is the character.

Venus through the 12 signs, in brief

Two lines per placement — how each Venus loves and what it needs back. Every name links to the full breakdown.

Venus in Aries

Loves the chase and says so. Attraction is instant, direct and a little competitive — this Venus would rather be turned down than left wondering.

Venus in Taurus

Venus at home: love as loyalty, touch, good food and unhurried time. Slow to commit, slower to leave — comfort and constancy are the romance.

Venus in Gemini

Falls for minds first. Conversation is the courtship: wit, banter, the message that arrives at 2 a.m. Boredom, not conflict, is the real threat.

Venus in Cancer

Love means being let inside: home, history, family, care. Tender and loyal, this Venus remembers every anniversary — and every careless word.

Venus in Leo

Romance as theatre, in the best sense: grand gestures, warmth, undivided attention. Wants to be adored — and gives back double.

Venus in Virgo

Shows love through acts of service: the fixed problem, the remembered detail, the quiet usefulness. Words are modest; the deeds are not.

Venus in Libra

Venus at home in the sign of partnership: charm, courtesy, aesthetics, balance. Built for coupledom — the challenge is stating a preference instead of mirroring one.

Venus in Scorpio

All-in intimacy: trust is earned slowly and bonds run deep. Jealousy is the shadow side of a Venus that simply doesn't do casual.

Venus in Sagittarius

Loves freely and needs freedom to love: shared adventures, honesty, room to grow. The partner who becomes the journey wins for good.

Venus in Capricorn

Takes love seriously: builds it like a long-term project, proves it through reliability. Reserved at the start — but the commitment, once made, holds.

Venus in Aquarius

Friendship first, always. Loves the unusual, keeps some air in the room, and resists any script for how a relationship 'should' look.

Venus in Pisces

The romantic of the zodiac: empathic, devoted, a little idealistic. Loves the person and the dream of the person — learning to see both clearly is the work.

Frequently asked questions

What is my Venus sign?

It's the zodiac sign Venus occupied at your birth. Enter your date, time and city in the calculator above — the sign comes back in seconds, computed from the Swiss Ephemeris, with a link to what the placement means.

Is the Venus sign different from the Sun sign?

Usually yes — and that difference is the point. The Sun describes the character's core; Venus runs love and attraction. Reading both together explains contradictions a single sign can't.

Do I need my birth time?

For the Venus sign itself, the date almost always suffices. Venus changes signs roughly every three to four weeks, so only people born within hours of a switch need the exact time. The time matters for the rising sign and houses — worth adding if you have it, since the same calculator returns your whole chart.

Why is Venus never far from my Sun sign?

Venus orbits between Earth and the Sun, so from our viewpoint it never strays more than about two signs away from the Sun. That's why a Leo can only have Venus in Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo or Libra — and it makes the exact placement all the more telling.

Which Venus signs are compatible with mine?

As with Sun signs, same-element Venus placements understand each other's love language natively, and fire–air or earth–water pairs complement well. But Venus compatibility is one thread of a synastry — how two whole charts interact. Our compatibility section reads the pairs in full.
