The Black Moon Lilith: a dark lunar disc with a thin golden rim on a violet cosmic sky — the chart's untamed point

Black Moon Lilith isn't a planet or an asteroid — it's a point: the apogee of the Moon's orbit, the place where the Moon swings farthest from Earth. Astrology reads that distance symbolically: Lilith marks what refuses to be tamed in a chart — raw instinct, suppressed anger, desires you were taught to be ashamed of, and the wild dignity that returns when you stop apologizing for them.

Your Lilith sign shows the flavor of that untamed territory; its house shows where in life it plays out. Lilith spends about nine months per sign, circling the zodiac in nine years — the calendar below is computed from the Swiss Ephemeris (mean apogee).

The myth behind the name

The name reaches back further than astrology itself: Lilith appears in Mesopotamian demonology as a night spirit, and in medieval Jewish legend as Adam's first wife — created from the same earth, not from a rib — who refused to submit, spoke the unspeakable name, and left Eden on her own wings. For centuries she was the cautionary tale; the twentieth century reread her as the first refusal in recorded myth: the one who preferred exile to obedience.

Astrology borrowed the name for the Moon's dark apogee point in the twentieth century, and the fit is precise: where the Moon in a chart shows how you were nurtured and how you comfort, Lilith shows what was exiled from that nurturing — the part of you that was called «too much» and learned to hide. The work she describes is not becoming wild for its own sake; it's bringing the exile home.

Lilith in each sign — one honest line

Find your period in the table above (or in the birth chart for older dates) — here is the flavor each sign gives Lilith. Take these as compressed portraits: the house she occupies personalizes them further.

Lilith in Aries

exiled anger: taught that rage is unseemly, learns that clean anger is a boundary — the work is direct confrontation without shame

Lilith in Taurus

exiled appetite: shamed for wanting comfort, money, pleasure — the work is owning «mine» without apology or hoarding

Lilith in Gemini

exiled voice: the child told to stop talking, the adult who censors every message — the work is saying the unsayable out loud

Lilith in Cancer

exiled need: taught that needing care is weakness — the work is asking to be held without calling it a failure

Lilith in Leo

exiled radiance: shamed for wanting the spotlight — the work is taking the stage without waiting for permission

Lilith in Virgo

exiled imperfection: taught that worth equals flawlessness — the work is being seen unfinished and surviving it

Lilith in Libra

exiled conflict: the peacemaker who swallowed every objection — the work is displeasing people and staying in the room

Lilith in Scorpio

exiled intensity: desire and depth labeled dangerous — the work is intimacy without the armor, power without the secrecy

Lilith in Sagittarius

exiled heresy: punished for questioning the doctrine — the work is believing your own experience over inherited truth

Lilith in Capricorn

exiled ambition: taught that wanting power is cold — the work is claiming authority without apologizing for it

Lilith in Aquarius

exiled strangeness: the odd one who learned to mimic normal — the work is letting the difference show and cost what it costs

Lilith in Pisces

exiled sensitivity: mocked for feeling too much, seeing too much — the work is trusting the perception no one validated

How to work with Lilith — honestly

Lilith work is unfashionably simple: locate what you're ashamed of wanting, and check who taught you the shame. The sign shows the theme, the house shows the arena — and the recurring life pattern is usually visible in both: the same conflict, job, or relationship where you first over-comply and then explode or vanish. That cycle — submission, rupture, exile — is Lilith's signature, and it loosens when the wanting is admitted before the explosion has to do it for you.

What this point is not: an excuse, a curse, or a personality. Lilith describes one specific frontier of dignity per chart, not a license to burn bridges monthly. The honest reading treats her as a question — «where did you learn this desire was forbidden?» — rather than a costume.

Frequently asked questions

What is Black Moon Lilith?+

A calculated point — the apogee of the Moon's orbit, its farthest swing from Earth. Nothing physical sits there; astrology reads it symbolically as the chart's untamed territory: instinct, suppressed rage, desire without apology.

How do I find my Lilith sign?+

By your date of birth: Lilith spends roughly nine months in each sign. The recent years are in the calendar above; for older dates and for Lilith's house, calculate the full birth chart — it takes 30 seconds.

Where is Lilith right now?+

Finishing Sagittarius; on September 14, 2026 it enters Capricorn until June 11, 2027 — a collective season of unmasking power structures and one's own ambition, as tradition reads it.

Mean or true Lilith?+

Two calculations of the same point: the mean apogee smooths the Moon's wobble, the «true» one follows it exactly and can swing wide for weeks. Most astrologers (and this page) use the mean — steadier and, in practice, more readable.
